The Power of an Arm Lift
Who Is a Candidate for Brachioplasty?
Not Smoke
Tobacco products hinder the body's ability to heal, making recovering after surgery slower and more difficult. If you are currently using tobacco products, we recommend that you quit in the months leading up to your surgery and for the months during your recovery. Ideally, you should try to quit altogether.
Be at a Stable Weight
After your procedure, any significant weight gain or weight loss can negate the effects of your treatment. You should be at a stable weight that you can maintain before receiving this body contouring surgery.
Be in Good Overall Health
Patients should be healthy enough to undergo surgery. Dr. Zavell will review your medical history and ask about any medication you are currently taking before scheduling your surgery to ensure it is a safe option for you.
Have Realistic Expectations
An arm lift is an amazing way to sculpt the upper arms and make your body more proportionate, but the results won't last forever as the natural aging process will make your skin lose elasticity. Patients must have a clear understanding of the potential results of this surgery before scheduling their appointment.

Results and Recovery
Keep in mind it can take up to three months to see the full effects of treatment. Our team will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions to aid in your recovery. These will include:
Get Plenty of Rest
It can take about two to three weeks to recover after an arm lift procedure. During this time, avoid all strenuous activity and exercise until you are approved by your surgeon. You can return to a desk job in about a week. You can return to a more strenuous job in about two weeks.
Manage Side Effects
Discomfort, swelling, and bruising are normal after an arm lift procedure. You can manage any side effects with prescribed pain medication and cool or warm compresses.
Care for Your Incisions
Arm lift surgery requires incisions, which results in scarring. You can minimize the appearance of your scars by taking care of the incision sites after your surgery. As you heal, be sure to avoid direct sunlight, apply sunscreen, use a moisturizer, and use a silicone scar gel.
